The DA is closing in on a Brooklyn/Staten Island based gambling ring.
The online sports betting operation centers around touchdownbets.com, nysportswager.com, and bet1010.com and is run by high-ranking Gambino mobsters.
The mobsters, including Pietro Inzerillo and Joseph Lanni, have managed the high-tech operation using mostly mobile communication devices.
A member of law enforcement says that the mobsters involved are “major players in the Gambino family.”
No charges have been filed but after a two-year investigation by the NYPD’s Organized Crime Investigative Division, prosecutors are very close
The investigation included extensive surveillance and produced cause for dozens of search warrants last month alone. Among some of the quotes released from the surveillance tapes are Anthony and Lewis Falco discussing a gambler who owed them money:
"I told him make me an offer," Anthony told his Dad Lewis who replied "Yeah, he wants the big bucks, tell him to go f--- himself.”
Another mobster, Bruzzese, is heard teaching a young bookie the ropes:
"The first rule I got to teach you is that when somebody has money for you, go get it...You're all excited, but that's how they're supposed to pay. I got guys who lose $15,000 and they pay me in full no problem.”
Speaking of collecting, prosecutors are now going after nearly $20 million in assets from those involved.
