John Acres, president of Talo Nevada, is currently developing a slot machine program that would be able to track a player’s style of play and tailor the game to their preferences.
Acres told gaming commissioners that the program that would allow the machine to alter its style of play depending on the player.
Players who prefer a faster-paced game would quickly be met with riskier bets and the chance at greater rewards. Those players who preferred a slower paced game would be given lower risk bets with smaller rewards, for a longer period of play.
This program would allow players to sit down at any machine and receive their perfect game every time.
As Acres says:
"When players enter a casino, they have a pretty good idea about the kind of game they want to play, but nobody is able to tell a player how to find a game that they like.”
However, some players don’t know what they want until they’ve found it. This software will allow those players to discover what pace of game they prefer as they play.
According to Acres "It's kind of like Amazon. It's saying, 'If you like this, you may also like this.”
While the program would change the pace of play for every player, it would have no effect on slot pay tables. It would allow the machine to pay out quickly or slowly while maintaining its programmed payback percentage.
Acres has been credited with inventing not only the modern slot machine player tracking system but also with founding the Gaming Standards Association and inventing a line of bicycles. So really, changing the way the world interacts with slot machines is just another day at the office for him.
