Can anyone briefly explain to me which type of poker game is more popular right now? i often see poker tournaments on tv but have no clue about what they are playing. Is there one particular type of poker that is popular than others?

Yup. holdem is THE game to play right now (just check your tv guide to see how many damn texas holdem tournaments they show on any given week). Its easy enough for anyone to get into, while still giving the bluffers room to play.

But what are the other types of poker being played? Is this the only one? don't get me wrong, I'm not getting tired of it yet, just more curious...

I have seen on TV once where there's this type that deals more than 5 cards and you get to choose which ones you want to use, what kind is that?

If it's on TV, then it's probably Holdem. 2 down for each player, then communal 5 face up (3, 1, 1) Could be 7 card stud, but who wants to watch that on TV?

I don't know about you, but I think that the most underground poker game is the one that involves stripping! Think of how many frats around the world are playing this as you read this? come on, hands down the winner
