Survival is only important in an online blackjack tournament if you have a realistic chance of winning. There’s no reason to ‘just hang in there’ if you’re just going to wallow in mid position and hope that a late desperation move pays off.
Don’t think about going all in if you’re already close to the table lead (usually because of a dealer hot streak). A normal end game catch up play will suffice, without risking your entire tournament life.
