Thirteen Thousand tickets sold in the first 24 hours of the UFC® Fight Club presale; that was the reaction of the Canadian fans to the first UFC event to be held inside their borders next April; showing they full support for the upcoming fight between Quebec’s own Georges “Rush” St-Pierre against Matt “the terror” Serra, who is the current UFC Welterweight Champion.

The expectations are quite high as this is the second time that these fighters face each other in combat; however this time the Canadian fighter is hoping for a better result than that of the one he obtained when they traded punches for the first time, as St-Pierre was defeated by the American fighter by way of knock out during the first round, shocking the entire MMA world, taking the UFC welterweight title for himself.

“I am at the same point as I was last year when I fought Matt Serra (Commented St-Pierre), except this time I am fighting as the contender not the champion,” said St-Pierre. “It’s a dream come true to have this historic UFC event in Canada, I’ve waited my whole life for this opportunity, and especially fighting for – and winning – the world title in front of my people.” And St-Pierre continued “I see this fight not as revenge but as redemption. I know I can do better than I did last time, and for me for sure it is going to be redemption.”

But don’t think that Georges St-Pierre is the only Quebec native representing his hometown at the Bell Centre; Jonathan Goulet (21-9, 1 no contest) will be squaring against Kuniyoshi Hironaka (11-4) in another action packed welterweight match, while Patrick ‘The Predator’ Cote (13-4) Quebec City’s highly-regarded middleweight contender puts his three fight UFC winning streak on the line against an opponent that is to be announced shortly.

And the people of the UFC have another awesome fight for us, as former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin (24-3) begins on his road back to the 185-pound title when he takes on The Ultimate Fighter season 4 winner, Travis Lutter (12-4), a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt who is far from being a new kid on the MMA block, as he has competed on tournaments such as Abu Dhabi World Championship, (One of the highest level grappling tournament in the world), and the Ultimate submission Championship (In which he defeated none other than Ryron Gracie, to win the title)

Two former champions coming back to the octagon, Georges St- Pierre and Rich Franklin, both men looking for a victory to start the journey back to redemption.

So get ready for Ultimate Fighting Championship 83, coming on Saturday, April 19, 2008 Live from the Bell Centre
