BAW International Ltd. is registered in Gibraltar, and was founded in 1999 under the name Simon Bold (Gibraltar) Ltd.
The founder of the company, Simon Bold, has more than 26 years experience in the international betting industry. As founder and main shareholder of Liverpool-based Mawdsley Bookmakers (more than 40 betting offices, 200 employees and a yearly turnover of more than EUR 32 million), he was the first to introduce large-scale betting via "debit card" in 1989. In 1991, he sold most of his bookmaking business to the listed company Stanley Leisure PLC.
In November 1999, Simon Bold (Gibraltar) Ltd. secured the last betting licence to be issued in Gibraltar to date. In December 1999, the company began offering telephone betting, opening up its second distribution channel on the Internet in June 2000.
After its June 2001 takeover by the publicly listed Austrian company BETandWIN.com Interactive Entertainment AG the company was renamed BAW International Ltd.
Our licence was extended in the autumn of 2001, so that in December 2001 BAW International Ltd. was able to start operating an online casino based on a licence issued by the Government of Gibraltar.
